Rules of the Fleet
The following rules are not to be considered exhaustive or exclusive. They exists because someone violated rule number one. Every rule here is due to one or more direct issues the fleet has experienced. Action for violation may include summary expulsion from the fleet of any and all characters on any known gamertag. In addition, the rules and terms of service from Xbox and Cryptic also apply.
- Don’t be the reason we create a rule.
- Don’t be a jerk. You represent the fleet. Your behavior reflects on all of us. You will be expected to conduct yourself in a rational and decent fashion. There is a reason we put this at number two. It’s that important. This includes characters you may have in other fleets.
- Don’t be smug or exhibit braggadocio. Know what you don’t know. Know you aren’t cool. We’re playing with little virtual cartoon ships. It is a game. Be ok that you might suck, and if you are good, you shouldn’t need to prove it. Talking crap is a great way to become a former member.
- Don’t put junk in the fleet bank. This includes most common grade items, lockboxes, etc.
- Re-entry to the fleet is prohibited without an open discussion first. Do not attempt to re-enter, whether under a new character name/gamertag or not. You must be approved by the Fleet Admiral or SciMed Admiral first.
- Take great care with political, social, or other sensitive topics. Their discussion is not banned, per se, but if it incites or harasses, action will be taken. Not everyone believes what you believe and vice versa. We’re here to play STO, not stand on a soap box, and chances are you’re playing with a diverse group of souls that may include folks that would oppose your viewpoint in other situations. Leave it outside.
- Fleet chat and voice chat is for STO/Fleet business. Feel free to open another chat to discuss other topics, but crowding the chat with non-fleet/STO discussion is undesirable and prohibited.
- No poaching. Do not recruit other players from other fleets without asking them to check in with their existing fleet leadership. A polite note is acceptable to let them know they are leaving, but we also do not want to “take” players from other fleets. It’s acceptable for players to leave a fleet to join ATP, but it must be handled with great care and concern for all involved.
- Know what you are talking about. ATP prides itself on being a resource for game knowledge, and if you spread incorrect information, it will diminish our reputation. It will not be tolerated. Ask if you need to, and have excellent sources to back up anything you state. Kick it up the chain if you need a more expert opinion.
